Dr Gan Yijin Jereme is a Consultant with the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Department of Otorhinolaryngology.
Dr Gan obtained his medical graduate degree (MBBS with honours) from the University of Monash, Australia in 2009. He did his internship in Monash health (Australia) in 2010 and returned to Singapore in 2011 as a medical officer in Tan Tock Seng Hospital Department of Otorhinolaryngology where his mentors inspired him to pursue the Otorhinolaryngology specialty. He embarked on the Otolaryngology residency training (NHG Health) in 2014 under ACGME-I which he successfully completed in 2019. During residency, Dr Gan was appointed as the Chief Resident of the NHG Health ENT Residency Programme.
Dr Gan is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS ENT) since 2012 and also obtained the Masters of Medicine (Otorhinolaryngology) from National University Singapore in 2015. He is an accredited specialist by the Singapore Medical Council and has been a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2019.
Dr Gan has a special interest in head and neck cancers, thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland surgeries. He went on to pursue the Global Online Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology of International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS) from 2019 to 2021, where he passed the Oral Examination with honours. He most recently was the recipient of the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore which enabled him to pursue a one-year fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology from July 2022 to 2023 at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, Sydney, Australia. This allowed him the opportunity to hone his skills in a high-volume head and neck cancer centre, where he did several transoral laser microsurgeries, extensive head and neck cancer resections, exposure to skin cancers as well as robotic surgery for oropharyngeal cancers. He currently helps cover the Woodlands General Hospital head and neck workload.
Besides clinical care, Dr Gan is actively involved in research and has published widely in several peer reviewed journals (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6877-2347). He also believes in the education and training of the next generation of doctors and is actively involved in the surgical training of Otolaryngology residents as a physician faculty in the NHG Health. He serves as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty (Content Expert and Clinical teacher) of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin (YLL) School of Medicine, National University Singapore. He is also currently an Enrich Clinical mentor for the YLL Medical Students.
