Biodata

Dr Deshan Kumar is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His subspeciality interests lie within the field of neurorehabilitation and non-invasive brain stimulation.

Dr Deshan currently leads an interdisciplinary team managing stroke rehabilitation at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He has been involved in a variety of projects looking at improving the continuum of care for stroke patients such as the Stroke Services Initiative (Ministry of Health, 2016), Stroke Rehabilitation Ecosystem and the One Rehab workgroup.

Dr Deshan received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore and underwent specialist training in rehabilitation medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) to do a fellowship in the field of non-invasive brain stimulation at the Centre for Brain Research, University of Auckland in New Zealand. He has also received other awards such as the Best Junior Teacher Award (2011) and Merit Quality Improvement Award for an Occupational Therapy LIFE Programme for Stroke Patients in the Acute Stroke Unit (2021).
