Biodata

Qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School with an intercalated BSc (Biomedical Science with Immunology) and MBBS in 1990.

Experience in Clinical and Laboratory Microbiology since 1991, with Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) 1993, MSc in Clinical Microbiology (the London Hospital Medical College) 1995, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (London) 2000.

Extensive experience of managing infection prevention and control, rational prescribing, and demand management of microbiology test requests.

Numerous posts in England in general and teaching hospitals, including Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London 1996-2001.

Head of Department of Laboratory Medicine at TTSH from 2015-2024, leading the department in implementing the first and (to date) only fully automated microbiology system in South East Asia, and through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Awarded the Singapore Public Administration Bronze Medal COVID-19, and UK NHS National Clinical Excellence Award Level 3.
