Adj A/Prof Chuah Khoon Leong is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Pathology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), and a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). He currently serves as Chairman of the NHG Digital Pathology Steering Committee. His primary discipline is Anatomical Pathology, with subspecialty expertise in pulmonary pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, molecular anatomical pathology, and haematopathology. He led the establishment and development of the molecular pathology service within the Department of Pathology at TTSH and is actively engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate education as a Content Expert, and Clinical Teacher in Pathology with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Adj A/Prof Chuah provides comprehensive diagnostic services in anatomical pathology, with a focus on thoracic and bone/soft tissue lesions, intraoperative consultations, and cytopathology. He integrates molecular technologies into diagnostic workflows to improve precision and efficiency. His professional interests include interstitial lung disease, thoracic neoplasia, sarcoma pathology, haematopathology, and the clinical applications of molecular diagnostics and digital pathology.
Adj A/Prof Chuah obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 1991. He completed his postgraduate training in Anatomic Pathology at Singapore General Hospital in 1999. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). In 2001, he was awarded the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship to pursue advanced training in pulmonary pathology under Professors Thomas Colby and Kevin Leslie at the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, USA. He was the inaugural Program Director for the NHG Pathology Residency Programme and currently serves as a member of the Ministry of Health’s Resident Advisory Committee for Pathology. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and is an Editorial Board Member of Pathology (the official journal of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia). In recognition of his professional contributions and excellence in clinical service, he received the TTSH Staff Excellence Award (Gold) in July 2023.
