Adj A/Prof Chia Pow-Li is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Cardiology in Tan Tock Seng Hospital Singapore. He heads the Cardiac Arrhythmia, Electrophysiology and Pacing Service. His areas of interest include heart rhythm abnormalities, implantation of cardiac permanent pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators and implantable loop recorders. He has been involved in multi-centre clinical trials, published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals and invited as a key opinion leader in regional and international Cardiology conferences in these clinical areas.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a basic medical degree in 2000 and obtained a Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2005. He completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Cardiology in 2009. Under the Ministry of Health Singapore Health Manpower Development Programme, he went on to pursue a Clinical Fellowship Programme in St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney Australia from 2011 to 2012. He has been inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. He has a keen interest in educating younger generations of doctors and in recognition of his contributions, he has been conferred Adjunct Associate Professorships by both Yong Loo Lin and Lee Kong Chian Schools of Medicine.
His care philosophy is to provide patient-centred, evidence-based cardiac rhythm management that upholds the values of compassion, equity and clinical excellence.
