Adj A/Prof Daniel Chew Ek Kwang is currently Divisional Chairman (Medicine) and Senior Consultant in the Department of Endocrinology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He assumed the role of Divisional Chairman in April 2024, following his tenure as Assistant Chairman Medical Board (Medical Manpower Development) from 2015 to 2024. Adj A/Prof Chew previously served as Head of the Department of Endocrinology from 2011 to 2020.
Adj A/Prof Chew's clinical expertise centres on diabetes mellitus and endocrine disorders, with particular focus on inpatient diabetes management, metabolic health, and comprehensive diabetes care. He chairs the NHG Health Diabetes and Metabolic Steering Committee, coordinating cluster-wide diabetes initiatives to improve patient outcomes. His clinical interests extend to thyroid disorders, adrenal conditions, and the management of complex endocrine issues.
He graduated with MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and obtained his MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2003. Adj A/Prof Chew completed Advanced Specialist Training in Endocrinology in 2006 and was admitted as Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and as Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2013. He furthered his expertise through a Healthcare Manpower Development Programme Clinical Fellowship at Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2008. His contributions to medicine and healthcare administration have been recognised with the NHG Health Outstanding Citizenship Award (2021), the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) for Covid-19 (2023), and the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) (2024).
Adj A/Prof Chew is committed to advancing medical education as Adjunct Associate Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and serves as an examiner for medical schools. He believes in delivering patient-centred care that integrates clinical excellence with compassionate, holistic management of endocrine conditions.
