Dr Megan Chan is a Senior Consultant in Psychiatry at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Her subspecialty clinical interests include the care of older adults with mental health conditions, dementia-related behavioural symptoms and late-life mood disorders. She further advanced her subspecialty expertise after being awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Plan Scholarship, completing a 6-month Fellowship in Old age Psychiatry (Psychogeriatrics) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto Canada, in 2014.
Dr Chan is also the Programme Director for Assessment and Shared Care Team (ASCAT) and Aftercare, collaborating with community partners and primary care physicians to deliver integrated mental health care in the community. She also works closely with the Community Health Team from NHG Population Health to provide support to healthcare teams managing patients with combined medical and psychiatric conditions. As a member of the Geriatrics Integrated Shared Care Team in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, she works with the Geriatric Medicine team to provide education and training to primary healthcare teams and community partners managing patients with dementia and dementia related conditions.
In additional to her clinical work, Dr Chan is also actively involved in undergraduate medical teaching since her junior doctor years with her efforts recognised with teaching awards over the years. She also holds academic appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor at both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU.
