Dr Samuel Tay Rong Yao is a Family Physician at NHG Toa Payoh Polyclinic. He graduated from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM) with an MBBS degree in 2016 and subsequently completed postgraduate training in Masters of Family medicine in 2022.
Dr Tay is an active member of the Orthopaedic Specialty Advisory Group at NHG Polyclinics, playing a key role in revising the Joint Pain Clinical Practice Guidelines and hosting NHG Polyclinics wide Orthopaedic CMEs.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Tay is a passionate educator and mentor. He serves as core tutor for YLLSOM year 3 students and contributes actively to training future medical professionals. He is also an active tutor for LKC Year 4 and Year 5 SAP students. He is also involved as Physician Faculty for Family Medicine Residency and part of Programme B CFPS Faculty Member Neurology Committee, ensuring the next generation of healthcare professionals are well-equipped.
In the area of leadership, Dr Tay has taken on key administrative roles. He is currently the Key Trainer at NHG Toa Payoh polyclinic and Teamlet lead for Teamlet F. He also holds the roles of Video Consult Champ and Dermatology Champ in the clinic.
Recognising his outstanding contributions to public healthcare and research, Dr Tay has received accolades such as the NHG Polyclinics Quality Day Outstanding Award in 2022, NHG Polyclinics Quality Day Sustainability award in 2023 and NHG Quality Day Sustainability award in 2023. These recognitions reflect his dedication to advancing medical excellence and improving patient outcomes.
