Dr Kong Jing Wen is the Clinic Head at NHG Woodlands Polyclinic. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with an MBBS in 2007. He completed his postgraduate training in Family Medicine in 2016 and is accredited by the College of Family Physicians Singapore.
As part of his professional development, Dr Kong is awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) to Australia, where he gained expertise in Tele-geriatrics. His commitment to lifelong learning is evident in his extensive qualifications, including a Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (2012), where he received a Book Prize, and graduate diplomas in Acupuncture, Mental Health, Palliative Medicine and Family Practice Dermatology. As part of his professional development, he pursued advanced training at globally renowned institutions such as Harvard Medical School, completing programs in Leading Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence.
A recognized leader in Family Medicine, Dr Kong is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians Singapore (FCFPS) and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Academy of Medicine’s Chapter of Family Medicine Physicians (2025–2027). His clinical interests span dermatology, geriatrics and internal medicine, complemented by a dedication to healthcare innovation. Passionate about education, he shapes the future of Family Medicine as an examiner for the Fellowship program (FCFPS) and leads curriculum development in Philosophy, Ethics and Leadership (PEL) for the College of Family Physicians. He is the Chief Trainer for the NHG Polyclinics-SMC Supervisory Framework, where he mentors junior doctors to uphold clinical excellence.
Dr Kong’s leadership career is marked by transformative initiatives. As Clinic Head at NHG Hougang Polyclinic (2018–2021), he streamlined workflows to enhance service delivery. In 2020, he played a pivotal role in operationalizing NHG Polyclinics Video Consultation Service during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring uninterrupted care for chronic patients. His earlier innovation, the NHG Polyclinics-NSC Tele-Dermatology Service (2015), revolutionized dermatology referrals through digital collaboration with the National Skin Centre. This project earned him the National Health IT Excellence Award (2017). Since 2021, as Lead for NHG Polyclinics Telehealth, he has expanded telehealth to nursing homes, a milestone recognized with the NHG Team Recognition Award (Bronze).
In recognition of his contribution to public healthcare, Dr Kong received the Public Administration Medal (COVID-19) Bronze (2023) for his pandemic leadership and the NHG Leaders Development Award (2022). His telehealth projects garnered top honours at the Agency for Care Effectiveness Conference (2022) and multiple NHG recognition awards from 2021-2022. His accolades include the NHG Young Achiever’s Award (2018) and Teaching Award for Junior Clinicians (2015), reflecting his commitment to clinical, administrative and educational excellence.
Beyond awards, Dr Kong is driven by a philosophy of tech-enabled primary care, embracing both compassion and innovation. His work continues to bridge gaps between primary care and emerging technologies, ensuring that NHG Polyclinics remain at the forefront of Singapore’s primary healthcare transformation.
