Dr David Ng Wei Liang is a Family Physician, Senior Consultant and Deputy Director of Clinical Services at NHG Polyclinics. He graduated from National University of Singapore with an MBBS degree in 2004 and subsequently completed postgraduate training in Family Medicine in 2011.
To further enhance his expertise, Dr Ng was awarded the Health Manpower Development Award in 2016, which allowed him to complete an advanced clinical attachment at Newcastle University Institute of Ageing. With a strong commitment to patient care, he has developed a keen interest in dementia and the care of elderly in primary care, making significant contributions to the field.
As a distinguished expert, Dr Ng is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians Singapore. He is also an active member of the MOH Dementia Policy Workgroup and MOH Frailty Implementation Workgroup, on top of other cluster level roles.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Ng is a passionate educator and mentor. He serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, contributing actively to training future medical professionals. He is also part of the teaching faculty for the Fellowship Programme of the College of Family Physicians Singapore, ensuring the next generation of healthcare professionals are well-equipped.
In the area of leadership, Dr Ng has taken on key administrative roles. He previously served as Clinic Head at NHG Toa Payoh Polyclinic, where he was instrumental in evolving the clinical care delivery model, overseeing clinic operations and clinical care outcomes. Currently, he oversees professional standards in NHG Polyclinics, focusing on referral processes, clinical care delivery and performance.
Recognising his outstanding contributions to public healthcare, Dr Ng has received accolades such as the NHG Outstanding Citizenship Award in 2024, the NHG Education Leader Award in 2022 and the NHG Young Achiever Award in 2017. These recognitions reflect his/her dedication to advancing medical excellence, medical education and improving patient outcomes.
