Dr Darren Seah Ee-Jin is a Family Physician, Senior Consultant practicing at NHG Hougang Polyclinic. He currently holds the appointments of Head, Family Medicine, Population Health; Director Family Medicine Development Department and Director Primary Care Academy at NHG Polyclinics. Dr Seah graduated from the National University of Singapore with an MBBS in 2001. He subsequently completed his Masters in Medicine (Family Medicine) in 2008 and obtained his Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians Singapore [FCFP(S)] in 2011.
With a keen interest in training the younger generation, Dr Seah has been actively involved in clinical training and has taken on multiple education leadership roles. He served Program Director for NHG Family Medicine Residency Program from 2013 to 2020 and is the current Deputy Cluster Education Director in NHG and concurrently the Education Director in NHG Polyclinics.
A recognised expert in Family Medicine, Dr Seah is currently the Censor-in-chief in the College of Family Physicians, an appointment he has held since July 2021. Passionate about education and mentorship, he serves as an examiner for the Graduate Diploma of Family Medicine, Master of Medicine (Family Medicine) and FCFP(S).
Dr Seah has particular interest in diabetes care, serving as a Key Specialty Advisor for the NHG Polyclinics Endocrine Specialty Advisory Group and as a member of various diabetes-related committees at both institutional, cluster and national levels. His other clinical interests include lipids, thyroid disorders and cardiovascular health.
Throughout his career, Dr Seah has taken on significant clinical leadership roles, including serving as Regional Director (Central Health) for NHG Polyclinics and Co-Chairperson of the NHG Diabetes and Metabolic Steering Committee. He has made substantial contributions to primary care development and diabetes management in Singapore.
In recognition of his contributions to public healthcare, Dr Seah has received several prestigious awards, including the NHG Outstanding Citizenship Award in 2024, Public Administration Medal (Bronze)(COVID-19) in 2023, the NHG Young Achiever Award in 2016, and the NHG Education Leaders Award in 2015.
