Dr Tan Elaine serves as a Family Physician, Associate Consultant at NHG Toa Payoh Polyclinic. After receiving her MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 1997, she specialised in Family Medicine, completing her postgraduate training in 2004. She further enhanced her expertise with a Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology in 2014.
With a particular focus on diabetic foot management, Dr Tan is an active member of NHG Polyclinics Endocrine Specialty Advisory Group. Her dedication to improving patient care is evident through her extensive involvement in various committees and workgroups related to diabetic foot care at NHG Polyclinics and across NHG Health.
A recognised leader in her field, Dr Tan co-chaired the MOH National Diabetic Foot Workgroup, where she played a crucial role in developing the Appropriate Care Guidelines for foot assessment in diabetes mellitus patients. Her notable achievements include establishing foot surveillance clinics for higher risk diabetic patients at NHG Polyclinics and contributing significantly to the development of diabetic foot care guidelines in NHG Polyclinics and within NHG.
Her outstanding contributions to healthcare have earned her several accolades, including the Excellence in Action Award (2017) and the Singapore Primary Care Award Gold for her poster presentation (2023). She was also part of teams that received a Silver Team Recognition Award (2018) and a Gold Innovate Award (2024) for innovations in diabetic foot care.
