Dr Angelia Chua Hwee Ling is a Family Physician, Senior Consultant at NHG Yishun Polyclinic. She graduated from National University of Singapore with an MBBS degree in 1995 and subsequently completed postgraduate training in Family Medicine in 2000.
To further enhance her expertise, Dr Angelia was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship program which allowed her to complete an advanced clinical attachment at Department of Health in Hong Kong. With a strong commitment to patient care, she has developed a keen interest in paediatric care in primary care making significant contributions to the field. She is also the key advisor for Paediatrics Specialty Advisory Group in NHG Polyclinics and had been instrumental in implementing the transcutaneous bilirubin service in NHG Polyclinics in October 2018. She also had made significant contributions working with College of Paediatrics and Child Health workgroup in the development of clinical practice guidelines on Management of Neonatal jaundice and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is involved in the Maternal and Child Health Journey expert committee workgroup with Health Promotion Board to create e-book and bite-size articles on Healthhub. She is a member of an advisory panel for post graduate certification in community child health in Singapore. She is also a member of the senior leadership steering committee between KKH and NHG Polyclinics for collaborative projects.
As a distinguished expert, Dr Angelia is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. In professional development, she also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology in Singapore in 2002 and Graduate Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture in Singapore in 2007.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Angelia is a passionate educator and mentor. She serves as a clinical senior lecturer in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and as a clinical teacher and clinical practice facilitator in Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU, and contributes actively to the training of future medical professionals. She is also involved in postgraduate training and residency program as clinical core faculty member in NHG Family Medicine Residency programme and clinical tutor in Family Medicine Fellowship Program, ensuring the next generation of healthcare professionals are well-equipped. Additionally, she contributes to medical education as an examiner for Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine and Master of Medicine in Family Medicine. She contributed actively as main author as well as co author in medical journals such as in Annals Academy Medicine Singapore journal, Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Singapore Medical Journal.
In the area of leadership, Dr Angelia has taken on key administrative roles. She previously served as Clinic Deputy Head and subsequently as Clinic Head at NHG Yishun Polyclinic, where she was instrumental in department growth and care transformation.
Recognising her outstanding contributions to public healthcare, Dr Angelia has been awarded the Ministry of Health Long Service medal in 2021 and Reviewer Recognition award by Singapore Medical Journal in 2020.The recognition reflects her dedication to advancing medical excellence and improving patient outcomes.
