Biodata
Dr Teo Rui Ming graduated from the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2011 on a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Medicine Scholarship and subsequently embarked on his surgical journey with the NHG Health General Surgery Residency Programme.
As a Combat Medical Officer with the SAF, he held a wide range of portfolios which developed his expertise in healthcare administration and strategic planning skills. Memorable highlights of his SAF career include leading the medical contingent for a multilateral Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Civil-Military Exercise in 2017, helming the medical support plans for National Day Parade 2018, and promulgating improved heat injury management doctrines for the organisation.
Dr Teo completed his Surgical Residency training in 2022 and obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS). To pursue his passion in Surgery, he made a mid-career transition and joined the Hernia Surgery Team at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in 2023. His interests lie in pushing the frontiers for the use of minimally invasive surgery in the management of complex hernia cases, and he is dedicated to improving patients' quality of life through restoration of anatomy.
Outside of work, Dr Teo maintains a curated collection of scale figurines and has an interest in craft beverage creation.
