Dr Sim Wei Ping is a fellowship-trained surgeon at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, specialising in hip and knee replacements including complex and revision arthroplasty. He performs hip and knee replacement surgery using enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols. He also performs various hip approaches, both posteriorly and anteriorly based, including surgical techniques like the direct anterior muscle-sparing approach. He provides knee arthroplasty from partial to total knee replacements. He uses surgical techniques in his practice including computer navigation and robotic assistance in joint replacement surgery.Dr Sim heads the Knee Arthroplasty Workgroup which coordinates the care of joint replacement patients and pre- and post-operative rehabilitation. He currently works on Value Based Care for the hospital for arthroplasty patients.
Dr Sim is also involved in clinical research and education. He serves as a Core Clinical Faculty of the NHG Health Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Program. He has been appointed Clinical Lecturer for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He has received teaching awards from NUS, NHG Health and KTPH including the NUS Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence.
Outside of clinical work, Dr Sim enjoys long-distance running and has completed seven marathons to date.
