Biodata

Dr Dissanayake is a Senior Consultant in General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

He graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and continued his medical education in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology in the UK. He obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in 2010. After working as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology in the UK for several years, he moved to Singapore.

His subspecialty interests include Lipidology, especially managing familial lipid disorders. In 2015, with the help of his colleagues, he established a Lipid Clinic at KTPH, focusing on the management of common and rare lipid disorders in community and secondary care. Later that year, they initiated a research project to study Familial Hypercholesterolaemia in Singapore, with the aim of forming Singapore's Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Registry. This programme received national recognition and now involves primary care and all hospitals.

Dr Dissanayake is currently involved in several research projects related to lipid disorders, diabetes and hypertension.

Passionate about educating and mentoring medical students and junior doctors, he is involved in regular teaching activities. He was appointed as Clinical Lecturer for both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Currently, he is the Specialty Teaching Lead for Endocrinology at KTPH for Year 3 and Year 5 students from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
