Dr Deepak is a Senior Consultant in Microbiology and Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. His professional oversight extends to the laboratory facility at Admiralty Medical Centre.

He serves actively on various professional and administrative committees pertaining to infection control, quality and specialty service development. He is involved in numerous research initiatives and takes an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He is a recipient of the Commendation and Resilience Medals for his contributions to the National COVID-19 control efforts.
