Biodata

Dr Zhimin graduated from the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2015 with an MBBS degree. She then completed her Master of Medicine (Surgery) degree in 2018, with specialist accreditation in General Surgery in 2022 (FRCS Edinburgh).

Her subspecialty interests include Endocrine Surgery, Emergency Surgery, and Palliative Care in Surgery.

The current Endocrine Surgery service is managed in collaboration with KTPH Endocrine Medicine Service and Renal Medicine Service to provide better care for thyroid cancer, hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis, adrenal tumours and hypertension. She also has an interest in research activities that will improve the quality of care and innovation in the healthcare setting, reducing carbon emissions in the healthcare setting, and improving the standard of care of endocrine pathology.

For Emergency Surgery, working closely with the Geriatric and Medical Services, great effort has been made to improve the outcomes of elderly patients requiring emergency surgery. Where patients are too frail and do not benefit from major surgical intervention, we have also developed a service to provide comfort care for surgical patients.

Beyond the work environment, Dr Zhimin is actively involved in global health and humanitarian projects (Project Battambang, Cambodia), as well as supporting other women to advance their careers in healthcare. In addition to clinical practice, Dr Zhimin has keen interests in undergraduate and postgraduate education, investing her time to develop the undergraduate surgical programmes with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
