Dr Rachel Cheong Chin Yee is a Consultant in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, specialising in the care of older adults. She has significant expertise in early cognitive disorders, dementia, sarcopenia, frailty and the intrinsic capacity of older adults.
Dr Cheong completed her Internal Medicine Residency Programme and Geriatric Medicine Residency Programme at the NHG Health Residency Programme in Singapore. She enhanced her expertise with advanced training at Imperial College London, where she trained in the Department of Brain Sciences and Neurology at Charing Cross Hospital, UK. Her work focused on cognitive disorders, especially early cognitive decline, and the use of biomarkers for early detection and management. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and certifications in Dementia Care Mapping and HUMANITUDE Care Level 2.
Dr Cheong leads multidisciplinary teams in delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care for older adults, with a focus on early identification and management of cognitive impairment, sarcopenia prevention, and frailty. Her approach includes comprehensive geriatric assessments to support healthy ageing and optimise both cognitive and physical function.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Cheong serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where she mentors and trains medical students. She has authored numerous research papers and contributed to the development of clinical guidelines in geriatric care. Dr Cheong has received multiple accolades for her contributions, including the NHG Young Achiever Award and NHG Research Impact Award.
