Biodata

A/Prof Steven Ooi is a seasoned practitioner with over three decades of experience in infectious diseases and outbreak management. His past appointments include Deputy Director of Communicable Diseases Division at the Ministry of Health, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Public Health at the Ministry of the Environment, and Deputy Director at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Environmental Epidemiology. He is a member of Delta Omega, the US National Public Health Honor Society, and maintains global links in scientific advisory capacities to the WHO-FAO-WOAH-UNEP, World Bank, TEPHINET, SAFETYNET, ASEAN+3 Field Epidemiology Training Network, and regional countries.

An associate professor at the National University of Singapore, he teaches with the schools of Medicine and Public Health. In 2025, he was recipient of a valedictory letter from the President, Republic of Singapore, for 38 years of public service.
