Spironolactone (Aldactone) should be discontinued for 4 to 6 weeks before specimen collection. The plasma renin activity cannot be interpreted if the patient is being treated with spironolactone.

1. Collect 24 hour urine container with Boric acid from laboratory.
2. Refer to https://www.wh.com.sg/labs/Specimens/Pages/Specimens-Collection.aspx for collection of urine.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
