Dr Benson Yeo is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist and Head of the Department of STI Control (DSC) at the National Skin Centre. He graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2008 and completed his Dermatology Residency at NSC in 2016, where he served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Best Candidate Award for the Dermatology Exit Examination.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr Yeo is concurrently appointed as Director of the National STI Programme under the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA), within the Hepatitis, HIV and STI Division. In this capacity, he oversees national efforts to monitor and implement initiatives aimed at controlling STI rates in Singapore.
At NSC, Dr Yeo leads STI services and oversees the management of patients with a wide range of sexually transmitted and related dermatological conditions. His clinical work includes diagnosis, treatment, counselling, biomedical prevention, and long-term follow-up, encompassing both straightforward presentations and complex cases requiring coordinated care.
Dr Yeo is also experienced in managing severe psoriasis and a broad spectrum of general dermatological conditions.
Dr Yeo is actively involved in research, with publications focused on improving STI care delivery, and was a recipient of the FY2024 Education Theme Research Grant.
He is deeply involved in medical education as Core Faculty for the National Dermatology Residency Programme and Site Director for STI training for Infectious Diseases senior residents. He also serves as an examiner for the STI written component of the Dermatology exit examination. In addition, he teaches undergraduate medical students from all three local medical schools and is a regular speaker at local and regional meetings on STI-related topics.
His contributions to clinical care and administration have been recognised with the NHG Young Achiever Award (2022) and the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) (COVID-19) in recognition of his contributions to the National COVID-19 response.
