Dr Etienne Wang is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC), Singapore, with a focused interest in disorders of the hair and nails. He is the Chief of the Hair & Nail Unit, where he leads the service in managing patients with a wide spectrum of hair loss and nail conditions.
His clinical work centres on patients presenting with conditions such as alopecia, hair shedding disorders, and complex nail diseases. Many of these cases require detailed evaluation and long-term follow-up, and he takes a careful, structured approach to both diagnosis and management. His practice emphasises identifying underlying causes and developing treatment plans that are practical and sustainable over time.
Dr Wang manages both common and more challenging presentations, including cases that may have significant psychosocial impact. He works closely with patients to guide expectations and support long-term disease control, particularly in chronic or relapsing conditions.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Wang is actively involved in research, teaching and training within the department. He conducts clinical and basic science research on hair follicle biology and diseases. He is a regular speaker at regional meetings on hair disorders and contributes to advancing knowledge in this subspecialty area.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr Wang has been recognised for his contributions to teaching and medical education. He received the NHG Teaching Award for Junior Clinicians as well as multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards, reflecting his commitment to training and mentoring junior doctors.
