Adjunct Professor Tan Suat Hoon is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC), Singapore, with a longstanding focus on dermatopathology, cutaneous lymphomas and complex skin disorders. Her work bridges clinical dermatology and laboratory-based diagnosis, and she is widely regarded for her detailed and analytical approach in evaluating challenging cases.
She is closely involved in both the Dermatopathology Unit and the Lymphoma Clinic, where she was the founding leader of the subspecialty and where she continues to contribute to the diagnosis and management of patients with cutaneous lymphomas. Much of her expertise centres on clinicopathological correlation, particularly in cases where the diagnosis is not immediately straightforward.
Prof Tan is also deeply engaged in teaching, especially in dermatopathology. She plays an active role in training residents and visiting fellows and is known for guiding trainees through complex diagnostic reasoning in a structured and practical way. She is often invited as faculty speaker at regional and international academic meetings, where she shares her expertise in diagnostic dermatology and dermatopathology.
Her work reflects a strong commitment to diagnostic precision in patient care and the advancement of dermatopathology. She has received numerous awards recognising her contributions to clinical care, education, and service, including the NSC Best Clinical Teacher Award (2005, 2007), Clinical Practice Improvement Project – Best Project (2007), NHG Outstanding Citizenship Award (2012), and NHG Postgraduate Scholarship Award (2013). She has also been honoured at the national level with the Public Administration Medal (Bronze, 2018) and subsequently the Public Administration Medal (Silver, 2024) at the National Day Awards, as well as the National Medical Excellence Award for Outstanding Clinician Mentor (2024). Most recently, she was awarded the NHG Medallion (2025), reflecting sustained excellence and leadership within the healthcare system.
