Dr Ashfaq Ahmed is a Senior Hospital Clinician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Woodlands Hospital. His clinical interests include trauma, critical care, point-of-care ultrasound, and palliative medicine.

He graduated from Madras Medical College, India, in 2012 and has since gained extensive experience in emergency medicine across both India and Singapore. He joined Woodlands Hospital in September 2021 and successfully completed the Hospital Clinician Programme. He subsequently attained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM), the Graduate Diploma in Hospital Practice from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine from the National University of Singapore.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Ashfaq is actively involved in medical education and professional development. He is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor and serves as an instructor for the Echo in Life Support, Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Nerve Block, and Woodlands Hospital Transport Courses. He also regularly teaches medical students, junior doctors, and incoming Medical Officers through simulation-based learning, procedural training, and bedside teaching.

Dr Ashfaq has a strong interest in quality improvement and patient safety. He had been a part of initiatives to reduce opioid medication dosing errors in the Emergency Department and collaborated with the Quality, Risk and Safety Office to implement safer blood transfer practices aimed at reducing needle-stick injuries. In addition, he contributes to departmental administration, workforce planning, and orientation programmes for newly appointed doctors.

Dr Ashfaq is committed to delivering safe, evidence-based, and compassionate emergency care. He believes in fostering a culture of continuous learning and teamwork while supporting the education and development of future healthcare professionals.
