Dr Lim Shi Yu Derek graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University in Singapore, where he was awarded the Dermatological Society of Singapore Book Prize and V S Rajan Gold Medal for his outstanding performance in Dermatology. In 2022, he completed his specialist training, graduating as the best exiting trainee.

He currently serves as a Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC), Singapore, where he is involved in general dermatology services and the management of patients across a wide range of skin conditions. His clinical interests include contact dermatitis, cutaneous adverse drug reactions and complex dermatological conditions requiring hospital care.

His approach is practical and structured, with a focus on making clear diagnoses and developing treatment plans that are effective and sustainable in daily life. He places strong emphasis on the importance of patient-centred care in achieving good outcomes.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Lim is actively involved in teaching and has received multiple recognitions for his contributions to medical education. These include the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2022) and several NUS Junior Doctor Teaching Awards, as well as the NHG Residency Peer-Teaching Commendation Award (2023).

He continues to be actively engaged in medical education and enjoys presenting his work at scientific conferences.
