About

Asst. Professor Lau Weida is Divisional Chair of Surgery and Head of Department of Urology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He is also the current President of the Singapore Urological Association (SUA). He holds a MHPE from Maastricht University, an MBA (with distinction) from Northumbria University, and an MPH from Warwick University. He holds teaching appointments as Assistant Professor at both the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Dr Lau is UK Fellowship-trained in Andrology and Reconstructive Urology. He specialises in penile oncology, genitourethral reconstruction, male sexual dysfunction, and Minimally invasive surgical therapy (MIST) for prostate enlargement. He has published several publications and produced surgical videos on these subjects.

Dr Lau's practice encompasses low-intensity shockwave therapy (2018), Rezūm ablation of prostate (2021), UroLift (2022), and iTinds (2024) for the treatment of men with sexual dysfunction and prostate problems. The KTPH Urology department also offers MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy and transperineal rectal spacer insertion for prostate cancer.

Dr Lau is a three-time recipient of the NHG Teaching Excellence Award in 2014, 2017, and 2022. In 2025, he was awarded the NHG Young Achiever Award.
