Dr Jane Lim is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Woodlands Hospital and the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute.
Dr Lim obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she was elected as an executive committee member of the NUS Medical Society. Recognized for her potential, she was awarded the Ministry of Health (MOH) Training Award to pursue Ophthalmology residency training in Singapore, which she successfully completed at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC).
She subsequently obtained her Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology (MMed Ophth) and attained specialist accreditation in Ophthalmology in 2021. Dr Lim is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).
To further refine her expertise, she completed a fellowship in Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology at SNEC in 2024, equipping her with advanced skills in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and experience in the use of a wide range of intraocular lens (IOL) implants, including monofocal, toric, extended depth of focus (EDOF), and multifocal lenses.
Dr Lim is deeply committed to medical education and training. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the Associate in Education by the College of Clinical Medicine in 2020. She was appointed Adjunct Clinician Educator in 2021 and later recognized as a Clinical Lecturer at NUS in 2023. In 2024, she was promoted to Clinical Physician Faculty Member with the SNEC Residency Programme. She is actively involved in postgraduate education, mentoring residents, medical officers, and allied health professionals in ophthalmology.
Dr Lim’s research focuses on cataract surgery, biometry, and precision intraocular lens calculations. She has published extensively in top peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at leading international ophthalmology conferences, including: - Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APACRS) - European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) - American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS)
Her research has been recognized with multiple awards, including: - Best Paper of Session (APACRS 2023) - Best Paper of Session and Best of Papers & Posters for Young Eye Surgeons (ASCRS 2024) - 2nd Prize, Best Free Paper Presentation (Malaysia-Singapore Joint Ophthalmic Congress, 2018)
She was also an invited peer reviewer for top ophthalmology journals, contributing to advancements in the field.
Dr Lim has a special interest in complex cataract surgery, biometry, and advanced technology intraocular lenses. Her clinical practice encompasses general cataract and comprehensive ophthalmology, and she is committed to developing the Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment Service at Woodlands Hospital, ensuring excellence in patients' eye care.
Dr Lim speaks English and Mandarin.
