Dr Alvin Lo is Deputy Chief of Respiratory Medicine at Woodlands Hospital and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He graduated with honours from the University of Liverpool and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the National University Health System (NUHS), where he was appointed Associate Chief Resident and participated in the NUHS Residency Leadership Programme. He subsequently specialised in Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine.

In 2024, Dr Lo was awarded the Ministry of Health Healthcare Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship to pursue advanced training in severe asthma at Alfred Health, Australia. Since returning, he has led the development of asthma services in the northern region, establishing both a Severe Asthma Service and a Community Asthma Management Programme to enhance longitudinal care and patient self-management.

Dr Lo has a strong clinical and academic interest in lung cancer diagnostics and interventional pulmonology. He played a key role in establishing bronchoscopy services at Woodlands Hospital and contributed to the national workgroup responsible for developing Singapore’s Lung Cancer Screening Guidelines.

He is actively involved in medical education, contributing as an instructor for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and structured teaching for junior doctors. His commitment to education was recognised with the Best Resident Tutor Award in 2020. In addition, he has contributed to academic medicine through peer review activities and by chairing sessions at international conferences.

Dr Lo speaks English and Cantonese.
