Dr Augustine Chai practices Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery with a subspecialty interest in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr Chai graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, in 2016, where he was invited to the Dean’s Dinner in recognition of his leadership roles and contributions to student life. He began his residency in Otorhinolaryngology in 2020 and served as Chief Resident during his training, consistently ranking among the top of his cohort. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS, London) and Master of Medicine in Otorhinolaryngology (NUS), and was subsequently accredited as a specialist in Otolaryngology by the Singapore Medical Council.
Actively involved in education, Dr Chai has received multiple teaching awards and led innovative projects to improve training for junior doctors – including a self-developed ear injection training model and a wearable vestibular teaching tool, both of which won national awards at the Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress.
He holds active teaching appointments at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU). Beyond the hospital, Dr Chai is committed to community service and has participated in surgical outreach missions, reflecting his belief in the transformative impact of reconstructive surgery.
His current practice includes the management of general ENT conditions such as nasal allergies, sinus disease, tonsil problems, thyroid and salivary gland tumours and ear disorders. He has a special clinical interest in complex nasal deformities and nasal septal deviations, facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, facial nerve disorders and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.
Dr Chai runs specialist outpatient clinics, performs surgery, and provides inpatient care at Woodlands Health and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
