TTSH Surgical Intensive Care Unit & Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit
Overview

The Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine provides critical care services through two Intensive Care Units - the Surgical and Neurosurgical Intensive Care Units. We provide round-the-clock specialised and dedicated care for your loved ones. Our units are equipped with advanced monitoring and devices to support patients during their period of critical illness. 

Our experienced healthcare team includes specially trained doctors and nurses, as well as surgeons, pharmacists, physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, speech therapists, and medical social workers. Together, we make sure your loved ones gets the best care during their stay.

Our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) care for patients with a wide variety of conditions including post-operative care following major surgery, trauma, severe blood poisoning (sepsis), respiratory failure and renal failure. We have an ICU befriender service where trained volunteers come and spend time interacting with patients, offering comfort and companionship for your loved ones. 

Our Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NICU) delivers comprehensive critical care for patients with neurological and spinal disorders. Our highly trained team is experienced in monitoring and treating patients with head injuries, bleeding in the brain, brain and spine tumours, and spinal cord injuries. We also look after patients who have undergone major brain or spine surgery, ensuring their safe recovery.

Having a loved one in the intensive care unit can be a challenging and disquieting experience. We offer flexible visiting hours to accommodate family schedules and our care teams are committed to support our patients and family members throughout this difficult journey.
