What to Expect During an Outpatient Physiotherapy Session
Assessment
Your physiotherapist will begin by asking about your condition and symptoms, followed by a thorough physical examination to better understand your functional needs.
Treatment and Goals
Following the assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be developed. The goals of outpatient physiotherapy are to:
- Manage and relieve pain
- Prevent recurrence of injuries
- Improve physical strength, flexibility, and mobility
- Enhance your ability to perform daily activities

Appointments & General Information
To ensure that each patient receives timely and focused care, our physiotherapy services are available by appointment only. Please take note of the following information when planning your visit:
Appointments
- Physiotherapy sessions are by appointment
- To reschedule or cancel, please contact our Central Appointment Line at 6357 7000 at least two working days in advance
- A new doctor’s referral is required if:
- You miss three consecutive sessions without prior notice, or
- You do not return for within three months.
- Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment for registration.
- Late arrivals will be seen at the discretion of the physiotherapy team and may be required to reschedule.
Attire
Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing such as T-shirts and shorts to allow for ease of movement during assessment and treatment. Resistant non-slip shoes (e.g. sports shoes) are preferred for safety reason during physiotherapy sessions.
Duration of Physiotherapy
Each physiotherapy session typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your condition and treatment plan.
Accompanying Persons
Due to space and privacy considerations, accompanying persons are advised to wait in the designated waiting area.
Time Chits
Medical Certificates (MCs) are not issued for physiotherapy sessions. However, time chits can be provided upon request. Please enquire with our staff after your session.
