TTSH Geriatric Medicine
Overview

Our geriatric medicine specialists care for older adults with complex health needs, focusing on conditions like dementia, falls, frailty, and multiple chronic diseases to help seniors maintain independence and quality of life.

The Department of Geriatric Medicine specialises in comprehensive healthcare for older adults, particularly those with multiple health conditions or frailty. Our experienced doctors understand the unique challenges facing seniors and provide personalised treatment plans that focus on maintaining independence, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Conditions We Treat

We care for older adults with dementia and cognitive impairment, frequent falls and balance issues, frailty, urinary incontinence, medication management concerns, chronic pain, difficulty with daily activities like bathing or dressing, and complications from multiple health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

Our Services

We offer both inpatient and outpatient care. In the inpatient setting, our specialised elder care wards – Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) units and Geriatric Monitoring Unit (GMU) provide holistic and geriatric sensitive support for our patients. Our outpatient Centre for Geriatric Medicine (CGRM) features consultation and treatment rooms, a rest area for patients who need to lie down, an onsite pharmacy, and a physiotherapy gym designed specifically for older adults.

Comprehensive Support Team

Our geriatricians work closely with various clinical support services within the hospital, including laboratory, diagnostic radiology, dental, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, podiatry, dietetics, psychology, care & counselling and nursing services.
