TTSH Cancer Rehabilitation
Overview

Cancer and its treatment can cause musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular or other complaints. Patients may experience fatigue, brain fog, arm swelling (lymphedema), joint pains, low mood, numbness in hands and feet (peripheral neuropathy) and balance issues.

Because of these complaints, you may be referred to our cancer rehabilitation service by your oncologist or surgeon. We work with therapists, psychologists and social workers to help you through the recovery progress.

Key features of the Cancer Rehab Service include:

  • Prehabilitation prior to treatment or surgery
  • Working with physical therapists to address weakness, pain and lack of balance
  • Working with occupational therapists to help you in your daily activities, energy conservation and addressing fatigue
  • Working with speech therapists to manage speech, swallowing and communication problems
  • Conducting psychological assessment and treatment if required
  • Referral to community resources
