Testosterone replacement is used to treat testosterone deficiency in males. It contains testosterone, a male hormone produced naturally in the body.
- The medication is injected into a muscle in your body, where is stored and gradually released over a period of time.
- It is injected every 10-14 weeks.
Inform your doctor if you missed your appointment for the injection.
Inform your healthcare professional if:
- You are allergic to this medication or any of the other ingredients of this medication
- You have prostate or breast cancer
- You have history of the following:
- Liver or kidney problems
- Heart conditions
- Uncontrolled blood pressure
- Clotting disorders
- Epilepsy (fits)
- Migraine
- Benign prostate hyperplasia (enlargement of prostate)
- Sleep apnea (a sleep disorder)
- Diabetes
- You are taking any other medications, including supplements, traditional medications and herbal remedies.
- Acne
- Injection site reaction (e.g. pain, bruising or irritation at the injection site)
- Hot flushes
- Increased in weight
- Enlarged prostate
- Breast enlargement
The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:
- Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
- Difficulty in breathing
- Itchy skin rashes over your whole body
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medication and see your healthcare professional immediately.
Inform your doctor if you are taking oral anticoagulant (warfarin), corticosteroids, insulin or other anti-diabetic medications.
Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep this medication away from pregnant women, breastfeeding women or children.
Throw the used injection in sharps bin (injection is usually performed by healthcare professional)
