Heparinoid is used topically (externally on the skin) to reduce bruising, swelling, or inflammation of the veins (phlebitis). It can also be used to soften hardened scars, improve formation of scars or varicose veins. It is available as a cream or gel formulation.
- The product should be applied to the affected area 2-3 times daily, massage gently until the cream disappears
- Depending on the size of area being treated, application of a length of 3-5cm is usually enough
Do not use a double dose to make up for the forgotten dose. Apply the next dose at the usual timing
Inform your healthcare professional if:
- You are allergic to this medication or any of the other ingredients of this medication
- You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
- Not to be used on large areas of skin, broken skin, sensitive areas of skin or mucous membranes (such as eye or, mouth)
- Local skin irritation (eg skin redness)
The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:
- Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
- Difficulty in breathing
- Itchy skin rashes over your whole body
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medication and see your healthcare professional immediately
Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep this medication away from children.
Pack this medication into a black trash bag and seal it tightly before throwing into the rubbish chute or bin.
