What is a Uroflow Test?
The uroflow study measures the amount of urine in the bladder, how long it takes to urinate and how fast the urine comes out. This study is also done to look for cases of incomplete bladder emptying.
How is a uroflow study done?
You are to come for your appointment with a full bladder. Alternatively, you can arrive at the clinic earlier to drink water until your bladder is filled.
Please do not urinate before the procedure.
You will be asked to urinate into a special toilet that is used to measure the force of the urinary stream. You should try to make the uroflow test as similar as possible to a normal urination.
It is important to urinate as normally as possible at the time of the test in order for the test to be accurate. It will affect the result if you force your urine out.
Your bladder will then be checked for any residual urine via a bladder scan immediately after the uroflow to see how much urine is left behind after urination.
Possible Risks of Uroflow test?
