What are cafe-au-lait Spots?

Brown cafe-au-lait brown spots of neurofibromatosis.


They are hyperpigmented oval patches that look like coffee stains. They are found in 10% of the normal population.

Causes

Cafe-au-lait spots can be a manifestation of some underlying disorders especially if there are six or more lesions greater than 1.5 cm in diameter.
