Patch Test Application for Nurses in Dermatology

The course aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills on patch testing which is a gold standard method in diagnosing contact allergy.

Target Audience

Registered Nurses with at least 1-year experience in dermatology setting in healthcare institution.

Course Objectives

At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Acquire knowledge related to allergic contact dermatitis and patch testing.
  • Learn the techniques of preparation and application of patch test.
     
  • Understand the different of types of patch test batteries / series.
     
  • Understand the specific types of allergens that require compounding.
     
  • Interpret false-positive and positive patch test result.
     
  • Provide education and advice on avoidance of allergens.
