Khoo Teck Puat Hospital & Yishun Community Hospital

Prof Chua Hong Choon is an esteemed psychiatrist and healthcare leader, currently serving as CEO of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and Yishun Community Hospital (YCH), as well as Executive President of NHG College. Prior to this, he helmed the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for a decade, advancing national mental health services and policy. Prof Chua has made substantial contributions to education as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS, NUS, and NTU medical schools. Clinically trained in psychiatry, he earned his MBBS and Master of Medicine (Psychiatry) from NUS, with further training at NYU and Harvard. At IMH, he championed quality and safety as Singapore’s first Patient Safety Officer and led the country’s first national survey on depressive and anxiety disorders. As CEO of KTPH & YCH, Prof Chua emphasises a population health approach, fostering strong patient and community partnerships. A recipient of the 2024 WorkWellLeaders’ Wellbeing CEO Award, he is known for promoting inclusion, psychological safety, and work-life balance for healthcare professionals. His leadership continues to shape person-centred, integrated care at KTPH and YCH.
