Dr Shawn Vasoo was appointed Executive Director of the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) in 2025, bringing over 20 years of clinical expertise in infectious diseases. A Senior Consultant at TTSH, his interests span outbreak preparedness, antimicrobial resistance, diagnostics, and bone and joint infections. After completing postgraduate training in Chicago and advanced fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, he returned to Singapore in 2014 to join the Communicable Disease Centre. He later led the Infectious Diseases Research Lab from 2017 to 2024. A dedicated educator, Dr Vasoo teaches at NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and serves on editorial boards of several international medical journals. As Executive Director of NCID, he leads strategic efforts to strengthen Singapore’s infectious disease capabilities, building resilience in prevention, response, and research. Dr Vasoo graduated from NUS and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). His leadership reflects a commitment to safeguarding public health through science, preparedness, and collaboration.
