Biodata

Adjunct Assistant Professor Kalisvar Marimuthu completed his advanced speciality training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Singapore in 2010 and 2013 respectively. Subsequently, Adj Asst Prof Marimuthu trained in infection prevention and control as a Senior Research Fellow in the Infection Prevention and Control Unit of Geneva University Hospital under the guidance of Prof Stephan Harbarth and Prof Didier Pittet.

Adj Asst Prof Marimuthu is currently a Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. He is the chairperson of the National Infection Prevention and Control Committee (NIPC) of Singapore and is also the co-chair of the WHO guideline development group for ARI pathogen of pandemic potential. He is also the WHO advisor for global implementation of healthcare-associated infection (HAI) surveillance.

Adj Asst Prof Marimuthu’s primary clinical interest is in general infection diseases, infection prevention and control. His research portfolio includes de-implementation and sustainability in IPC, and application of next-generation sequencing for control of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative organisms.
