A/Prof Richard Lee Meng Kam is a Senior Consultant Family Physician at NHG Woodlands Polyclinic. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with MBBS degree in 1997, completed Master of Medicine (Family Medicine) in 2009 and was awarded Fellowship by College of Family Physicians Singapore in 2011.
To further enhance his expertise in clinical practice, A/Prof Lee was awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award, completing attachments at Keele University (UK) and Nijmegen University. His clinical interests include musculoskeletal conditions, chronic disease management, and medical education innovation.
A/Prof Lee is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians Singapore, a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS), and holds a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Maastricht University. He serves actively on national advisory boards and professional committees for medical education and clinical practice, including the MOH Family Medicine Training Advisory Committee (FMTAC) and the Singapore Medical Council Complaints Panel.
A passionate clinician educator, A/Prof Lee is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, where he is Principal Lead for Year 4 Family Medicine and SBA Lead for the Year 4 exams. He is also Assistant Director of Family Medicine Development at NHG Polyclinics and Lead for the Fellowship Programme (FCFP). He is deeply involved in training the medical undergraduates and advanced family medicine trainees, contributing to curriculum development and assessment standards.
In leadership, A/Prof Lee has chaired major initiatives such as the NHG Musculoskeletal Day 2024 and contributes to national guidelines development through his work in the Agency of Care Effectiveness & AMS Clinical Practice Guidelines Workgroup. His administrative focus lies in faculty development, interprofessional collaboration, and strengthening primary care capabilities.
A/Prof Lee has received numerous accolades, including the NHG Teaching Award (2024, 2018), NUS Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2019), Distinguished Educator’s Award (CFPS, 2019), and HMDP Awards (2014, 2020). These honours reflect his unwavering commitment to advancing family medicine and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
