Learning Outcomes
- Outline the pathophysiology of dementia.
- Apply the principles of patient-centered care
- Provide appropriate safety recommendations and caregiver education to promote safety in the home and community.
- Discuss caregiver advice for providing appropriate assistance and supervision of activities of daily living.
- Propose appropriate approaches to cognitive stimulation activities and planning.
- Discuss non-pharmacological interventions for management of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.
- Describe recommended coping strategies for caregivers to prevent burnout.
