Learning Outcomes
- Identify symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, and insomnia in primary care settings
- Recognise the impact of these common mental health disorders on individuals and healthcare systems
- Use and interpret basic screening tools for each condition
- Explain the biopsychosocial model and use it to construct an integrative case formulation
- Use case formulations to communicate what we know about a case and guide intervention planning
- Encourage behavioral changes in patients through use of effective goal setting and consideration of an individual’s unique values
- Identify protective and risk factors for suicide across different populations within primary care
- Recognise other critical mental health warning signs that may present in primary care requiring immediate attention
- Apply the core principles of Psychological First Aid in various settings
- Practice self-care strategies to maintain their own wellbeing while supporting others
- Recognise signs of work-related stress, burnout, and other mental health challenges in colleagues
- Implement strategies to promote positive mental health culture within their workplace
- Apply stress management techniques and resilience-building practices in professional settings
