Collection Instructions:
Specimens should be collected with the patient in a sitting position to prevent variations arising from body posture.
Specimen tubes should be pre-chilled (either place in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or in ice for at least 5 minutes) before venepuncture.
Where not possible to pre-chill specimen tubes, chill specimen immediately in either crushed ice or ice pack. The coolant must cover the specimen level in the tube.
1. Draw sufficient blood into lavender top tube.
2. Gently invert the tube 8 - 10 times.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
